Hi/bonjour, I’m Rachel.

I’ve been taking photos for most of my life - I took a class in high school and fell in love with what the camera let me capture and create. And I’m still in love with it to this day.

I enjoy taking photos of really anything but I specialize in family portraits, weddings and landscapes. I love making people laugh and getting that laughter on camera. Natural, candid photos are my favourite to capture.

Photography is really important to me for a number of reasons. It keeps me creative. It gets me outside. It connects me with amazing people. It allows me to hold beautiful moments in time. And as of 2020, it’s allowed me to help my hometown community with my Cards for a Cause initiative, by donating 50% of the profits to local not-for-profit organizations.

A little about me…if I could eat only one thing for the rest of my life it would be cheeseboards. I’m a teacher-librarian. I love drinking wine with friends and going for long walks and listening to music. I do not love raw tomatoes and according to my gran, until I do I cannot be considered an adult. I have read Harry Potter an insane amount of times. I have an English degree and an Education degree. I tend to laugh at my own jokes (not my fault, I got that from my dad). I’ve lived in France and in New Zealand/Aotearoa and loved them both so much. I love living near the ocean (and yet I live in the prairies…). I speak French and I love everything French - especially croissants and cheese and Paris and baguettes. I want to see and photograph as much of the world as I can.

Here I am, very much 15 years old, with my first ever camera.

And here I am years later, nearly 30, camera still always in hand.

New Zealand/Aotearoa is a photographer’s dream. Here I am in December 2022 on the shore of Lake Tekapo, camera in hand.
